Application Process

If you are approaching The Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation for the first time, please contact Pam Eichenauer at 216.591.9111.  Be prepared to provide a brief overview of your organization (the history, mission, programs, and services).  This will enable us to determine whether or not a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) would fall within the Foundation's areas of interest.  If your organization is a strong candidate for consideration, you will be asked to submit an LOI via our online process.

After your LOI has been submitted, it will be reviewed to determine if a full proposal will be requested for the next grant cycle.  The application form can only be accessed through our online grant process after approval of the LOI and requires an assigned access code.  A foundation representative may also request a site visit to gather additional information.

Organizations that have previously received funding from this Foundation may submit a proposal annually, adhering to the online grant application process and using their assigned access code.

Each request (LOI and full application) will be acknowledged via email upon receipt, and written notification of the Board's decision will be provided after the meeting (meeting dates are not published).  Applicants that receive a grant award may be asked to submit a report online during or upon completion of the grant period.
